What you can actually see — including orcas
This isn't a maybe-you'll-see-a-fin trip. Cetaceans are present in these waters year-round: pods of dolphins, and the giants of the Strait — the fin whale, the second-largest animal on Earth. And in summer, orcas: killer whales follow the tuna into the Strait, making this one of the only places in the world to see them in the wild from a day boat. Sighting probability is close to 100%, and if you're unlucky, you get a second trip free.
Two trips: two hours, or three for orcas
The two-hour sailing is the classic outing — head into the Strait with a team of sea professionals and biologist guides and watch dolphins and whales in their natural habitat. It's the easy, family-friendly option.

If seeing an orca in the wild is the dream, this is the one.

This is wildlife, not a show, and that's the appeal — but it means the sea has a say. Dress for wind and spray even on a warm day, and if you're prone to seasickness, take something beforehand. Go for the animals and the raw drama of the Strait, and treat any orca as the extraordinary bonus it is.
