Málaga's skyline is low, sun-baked and dominated by one thing: the Renaissance bulk of the Cathedral, nicknamed La Manquita ("the one-armed lady") for its unfinished second tower. The best way to take it in is from a rooftop, cocktail in hand, as the light turns gold over the port. Below are five terraces that deliver the view, plus exactly where they are, when they open and how to reach them.
AC Hotel Málaga Palacio — the highest terrace in the city
This is the classic. Perched on the 15th floor of the AC Hotel by Marriott, the Ático rooftop bar and restaurant is the highest terrace in central Málaga, giving you near-360º views over the Cathedral, the port, the Mediterranean and the palm-lined Paseo del Parque. It's the postcard shot, and it's open to non-guests.

La Terraza at Hotel Molina Lario — the Cathedral, up close
If the AC gives you the wide panorama, Molina Lario gives you the Cathedral almost within arm's reach. The hotel sits directly opposite La Manquita, so its rooftop — long known as The Top, now La Terraza — frames the towers and the port beyond with an unobstructed view. There's a small rooftop pool and solarium, and the bar is open to the public, not just guests.

La Terraza de Larios — nightlife above Calle Larios
Room Mate's Hotel Larios sits at the top of Calle Marqués de Larios, Málaga's grand marble shopping boulevard. Its rooftop, La Terraza de Larios, looks out over the rooftops of the historic centre and leans into the evening: it often runs live music and DJ sets, so it's more buzz than hush. Walk-ins are welcome and you don't need to be a guest, but arrive early around sunset.

La Terraza de San Juan — local vibe over the old-town roofs
On top of the Málaga Premium Hotel, this terrace trades sweeping panoramas for something more intimate: a close-up on the belfry of San Juan church and the tiled rooftops of the tapas quarter. It's a relaxed spot for drinks and small plates in the middle of the old town, and it's open to the public. Of all five, it keeps the latest hours.

La Terraza de Valeria — port and marina views
Atop the Room Mate Valeria between the Soho arts district and the port, this terrace swaps the Cathedral for the water: uninterrupted views over the harbour, Plaza de la Marina and the skyline. The mood is tropical and upbeat, and it's open through the day as well as the evening.

How to get there
All five terraces sit inside the walkable old town, roughly a 5–10 minute stroll from one another, so you can easily hop between a couple in an evening. If you're arriving from the airport, the C1 Cercanías commuter train is the fastest, cheapest way in: it runs to the Málaga Centro-Alameda stop, the closest station to the historic centre.
