Sail or motor?
This is the first decision and it changes the whole day. A sailing yacht moves slowly and quietly: once the engine is off and the sails are up, you hear the water. She heels, she moves, and in two hours you do not get far. A motor boat goes where you want and gets there fast, but you hear the engine the whole time.
If you are here for the sailing itself, take sail. If you want to reach a particular cove, or you are short on time, take motor. Neither is better — one fits what you actually want.
What does it cost to get out on the water here?
It depends whether you buy a seat or the whole boat, and that is where the jump happens.

Will we see dolphins?
Often, but not always, and nobody can promise it. There are resident bottlenose dolphins all along this coast. If seeing them genuinely matters to you, take the trip that goes looking: on a bay cruise they may appear, but the boat is not going to change course for them.

What is the sea like, and when should you go?
The Alborán Sea is usually calmest in the morning; by mid-afternoon the breeze fills in and a small swell builds. If anyone gets seasick, the morning trip is clearly better. For proper sailing, the afternoon has more wind and is more fun.
May to October is the comfortable season. In winter boats still go out on plenty of days, it is warmer than people imagine, and there is nobody about.
